Update: IN FLAMES Bassist Dislocated Knee, But Did Not Break His Leg
January 28, 2008Swedish writer Martin Carlsson, who accompanied IN FLAMES on their just-completed mini-tour of Russia, has sent the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding the report that the group's bassist Peter Iwers broke his leg before the band's January 27 show in Moscow.
"It may have looked like it, but Peter Iwers did NOT break his leg. We went to the Red Square yesterday morning for a photo shoot. The ground was very icy and Peter slipped. He dislocated his knee and went to hospital, but played the show sitting on a chair. When we saw each other off earlier tonight at the airport here in Sweden he was in good spirits."
Photos of Peter taken just before and during the Moscow gig can be found on the web site of the Swedish newspaper Expressen (for which Carlsson penned a full report from the Russia trip).
More pictures from the Moscow gig are available at Darkside.ru.
As previously reported, IN FLAMES spent the weekend of January 19-20 in Skellefteå, Sweden filming the video for their upcoming single, "The Mirror's Truth". Helmed by the Swedish company Popcore (NORMA JEAN, UNDEROATH, KHOMA, CULT OF LUNA),the clip was shot at an abandoned factory site.
Check out photos from the video shoot at Norra Västerbotten and Västerbottens Folkblad.
IN FLAMES recently inked a deal with Koch Records for the North American release of the group's new album, "A Sense of Purpose". Due on April 1 (April 7 in most of Europe via Nuclear Blast),the follow-up to 2006's "Come Clarity" was recorded at the band's own IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and was mixed by Toby Wright (METALLICA, SLAYER). The group received assistance during the vocal-recording sessions from producer Daniel Bergstrand, who previously produced the vocals on "Reroute To Remain", "Soundtrack To Your Escape" and "Come Clarity". All artwork for the album was created by Alex Pardee for ZeroFriends. Alex also created the artwork for the first single, "The Mirror's Truth".
